Pietro Tricoli's research interests focus on the modelling, analysis and control of power electronics devices applied to electrical drives, renewable energy sources and storage devices. His research themes include the modelling and experimental testing of:
Induction motor drives for rapid transit and road electric vehicles
Electrical storage devices (electrochemical batteries and electrochemical capacitors) and study of power electronics for their application in road electric vehicles, light railways, streetcars, ropeways and hoisting systems
PV arrays, wind turbines and fuel cells and analysis of power electronics for their application in the distributed generation
Active power filters in power systems
Line start synchronous machines for the distributed generation
Rotor bar failures in squirrel-cage induction machines
Switching power converters
