PhD projects

Kyriaki Makopoulou's research is focused on the multi-dimensional process of teacher professional learning in the contexts of physical education and physical development. She currently supervises two doctoral researchers and welcomes applications from potential doctoral researchers in all her research areas. Dr Makopoulou has been recently commissioned by the Youth Sport Trust (YST) to carry out an independent evaluation of the Sainsbury’s Inclusive Teacher Training Programme. In this project, robust data will be collected to capture the impact of the Programme on teachers and pupils and to map the implementation process in order to understand the factors that enable or hinder anticipated outcomes and impact to be achieved. She also works on developing and validating robust, practical and cost-effective tools to measure the impact of school-based, collaborative professional development initiatives on teacher and pupil learning outcomes.
