PhD projects

Mark Griffiths' research is located in the area of sport and education, focusing on understanding and improving theory and practice in sport, physical activity and physical education. Specifically, Mark draws on an interdisciplinary approach in examining learners and learning in a variety of activity settings. He is currently evaluating the professional development programmes of a number of UK National Governing Bodies. Mark is also involved in research projects evaluating the potential of community sport to engender health and wellbeing, social inclusion and opportunities for greater civic engagement. His work in this area has been supported by funding from the Art s and Humanities Research Council (AHRC).

Dr Griffiths is currently supervises two doctoral researchers, and welcomes applications from potential students in his areas of interest.
