Research interests

Barbara is interested in being involved in research in the field as autism and neurodivergence, that has a positive impact upon the community it serves. Current research explore the use of reasonable adjustments and inclusive practice in higher education.

Biography

Barbara is a neurodivergent individual with many years experience of supporting neurodivergent and physically disabled children, alongside associated mental health challenges. She started her career as a secondary school teacher and spent many years as a Special Educational Needs Coodinator in mainstream secondary schools. 

Alongside her academic career, Barbara has led many educational training sessions and supported teacher development in the field of SEND.

Barbara also works as a specialist student mentor for students in Higher Education that recieve additional funding through Disabled Student Allowance.
