Biography

Amber began her PhD at the University of Birmingham, Institute of Immunology and Immunotherapy, in 2019 within Professor Ye Oo’s group. Her research focuses on autoimmune hepatitis, and she has developed novel techniques to investigate this disease such as spatial transcriptome to investigate in-depth gene expression profiles and multiparameter CyTOF. Alongside her PhD programme, Amber works closely with GSK to deliver a single-cell RNA sequencing project on autoimmune and inflammatory liver disease. Amber is trained and skilful in GMP clean rooms and is experienced in Miltenyi GMP cell isolation techniques and equipment, she assists in the delivery of the GMP polyclonal Treg infusion clinical trial in primary biliary cholangitis (SPRING), both in the Advanced Cell Therapy unit and with the basic discovery science. Amber has a real passion for translational immunology and has been featured in a BBC1 broadcasted television programme to educate the public on their immune system. Amber was awarded the prestigious STEM for Britain, Nutrition Society prize (https://stemforbritain.org.uk/2021-winners/) in 2021 which was presented to her at the House of Commons, Westminster, London.
