Abstract
We systematically consider the moments of the currents I(phi) in single mesoscopic rings threaded by flux phi, and isolate the largest contributions. We compare our work with recent work by Eckern and Schmid. We disagree with their calculation for [I2]1/2 obtaining approximately (ev(F) IL) (l/L) rather than approximately (ev(F) IL). We find agreement for [I2p] with p > 1, but not for [I2P+1] (except in the case p = 0). We also address the question of the shape of the probability distribution.
