Dr Abdel-Wahab was awarded a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Loughborough University, UK (2011), His research work focused on experimental and numerical analysis of deformation and fracture of cortical bone tissue. The aim of his PhD study was to acquire a robust experimental-based material data of cortical bone tissue to enable adequate numerical modelling of its deformation and fracture behaviours under impact loading at various time and length scales.
Immediately after his PhD, Dr Abdel-Wahab started working as a Postdoc Research Associate at Loughborough University on an EPSRC-funded project to design and develop miniature ultrasonic cutting devices for high precision minimal access orthopaedic surgical procedures. In 2012, he was appointed as a lecturer in mechanics of materials in the Wolfson School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at Loughborough University, UK. Then, he moved to work as an assistant professor in Mechanical Engineering in KSA between 2014 and 2017. Dr Abdel-Wahab returned to the UK in 2017 to work as a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at the University of the West of Scotland (UWS). While working at UWS, has obtained Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice and become a Fellow of Higher Education Academy.
Dr Abdel-Wahab is a Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
