Abstract
Computational modelling approach can provide very valuable insight as to the relevance of the various mechanisms influencing the performance of process systems. It can also reveal the interaction between process and mechanical designs. In the case of stirred tank devices, it indicates how factors arising from different operating and configuration conditions affect the transfer processes, the mixing and the associated power requirements. This contribution highlights how computational techniques can facilitate validated design information.
