Abstract

We demonstrate the influence of symmetry and scattering phase in second harmonic generation (SHG) from gold nanoantennas. We develop an analytical microscopic multipole model of the scattering strength and phases of the constituent particles of each antenna to accurately predict the observed SHG radiation pattern and polarization. We also observe Four Wave Mixing and Sum Frequency Generation when the antenna is excited with two temporally – overlapping laser pulses.
