Abstract

Two types of frequency agile Co-planar Waveguide (CPW) filters are introduced. Both filters utilize specially designed slots along with varactors and diodes. Filter designs are explained and verified. When these filters are integrated with any wideband CPW antennas, these antennas become frequency reconfigurable as well. A Wideband mode can be obtained in the antennas by blocking the entrance to the filter slots and several narrow band modes are achieved by switching of different diodes or variation of varactor’s capacitance attached to the filter. Reflection coefficient and radiation pattern measurements are performed for the manufactured antennas. Good agreement between simulated and measured results is obtained.
