Prospects and challenges for Climate Compatible Development

Lessons from the application and analysis of climate compatible development are identified in relation to the three themes identified in Chapter 1, asking: does CCD have the potential to be transformative? What has political analysis revealed? How can integrated policies and practices be encouraged that deliver on sustainability and justice? The chapter reflects on what can be learnt about the concept of CCD from the previous chapters and identifies challenges for CCD and lessons for ‘making climate compatible development happen’. The ambition of CCD needs greater promotion, recognition of its dynamic nature, packaging of complementary measures and must be politically-informed.
