Abstract

The pentaruthenium boride cluster [Ru-5(CO)(15)B](-) has been prepared from [Ru-6(CO)(17)B](-) but is unstable. The Ru,(CO),,B-core can be stabilized in the form of [Ru-5(CO)(15) BAuPR3] (R = Ph or o-tolyl). Addition of [(Ph-3 PAu)(3)O] [BF4] to [Ru-5(CO)(15)B] - gives the trigold derivative [Ru-5(CO)(14)B(AuPPh3)(3)] which possesses an novel core structure.
