Abstract
From the importance of the role played by music in the French Revolution to Shostakovich's "Seventh Symphony", classical music and nationalism have maintained a symbiotic relationship throughout history that has defined a good part of our imagination through the creation of national communities and all the cultural scaffolding that sustains them, the enhancement of folkloric traditions, etc. Written from the privileged perspective provided by the crossroads between musicology and sociology, "Nacionalismo y música clásica" presents a rigorous and brilliant analysis of the relationship between these two fundamental elements of contemporary history and the products of their encounter.
