Abstract

Lymphocytopenia is a decrease in the number of lymphocytes, usually measured in peripheral blood. In the absence of disease, this decrease in cell number is thought to be caused by a transient migration of cells out of the circulation, or adherence to the vasculature, rather than a destruction or lower production of cells.
