Abstract
Following the interpretive path indicated by Silvio Pasquazi and continued by Gianni Oliva’s latest book, this essay proposes an anagogical reading of canto 5 of Dante’s Paradise.
The theological virtue of charitas is the condition that allows the upwards ascent of the anagogy: with a brotherly "carezza", the poet, acting as Beatrice’s scribe, fulfills the "angosciosa carizia" of his beloved reader
