Abstract
Xin Yao, University of Birmingham, UK, and President of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) shares his views on the development and evolution of the CIS. According to him, CIS provides an ideal platform for people with similar interests to come together and network. Also in 2015, CIS has embarked on a major initiative to work more closely with local chapters to support and fund their technical activities. In 2016, CIS will launch a new journal, IEEE Transactions on Cognitive and Developmental Systems (TCDS), revised from the IEEE Transactions on Autonomous Mental Development (TAMD). The new title and scope will cater much better the needs and interests of the CIS members, as well as the wider communities. It also provides ample opportunities for interested people to volunteer as reviewers or associated editors.
