Biography

Born London 1957

Tertiary Education at Selwyn College, Cambridge — Theology and Religious Studies (1975-78)

Volunteer Teacher in Uganda (1979-80)

Trained for the Anglican Priesthood at Ridley Hall, Cambridge (1980-81)

Extended placement as Lay Chaplain to the Accident and Emergency Unit, St. James' Hospital in Leeds, October - December 1981.

Published article 'Chaplain to Casualty' in the British Medical Journal, 17 July 1982.

Ordained July 1982. Twenty years working in rural and suburban parishes, with a special focus on end-of-life care.

Retrained as a Teacher and worked twenty years in private schools, with pupils from Year 3 to Year 13. Specialised in GCSE and A Level Religious Studies courses.

Retired in July 2022.

Part-time researcher into the theological interpretation of near-death experiences.

Joined UoB in September 2023 on the Doctorate in Practical Theology Programme to develop an effective framework for interpreting near-death experiences theologically in end-of-life care.
