Robert Neely's research interests are focussed on the development of tools for studying the genome. We focus on the DNA methyltransferase enzymes, which we employ to modify DNA with functional groups. We've developed methods for imaging the DNA sequence (DNA barcodes) and for isolating and analysing the active elements of our genome using DNA sequencing. Work from my group recently led to the spin-out of Tagomics from the University, a biotech company that is focussed on the early detection of cancer.
