PhD projects

Dr Mendes’s research interests are in nano-electrocatalysts for fuel cells, bio- and nanomaterials, switchable biological surfaces and artificial bacterial biofilms. Her group's research lies in the interdisciplinary area of nanoscience and nanotechnology, and currently focuses on the development of biomimetic materials for studies of cell behaviour, and bio- and nanomaterials with applications in medical imaging and catalysis. Dr Mendes is interested in supervising doctoral researchers in the following areas:

Design and fabrication of micro- or nanostructured biological surfaces
Design and fabrication of switchable biological surfaces
Synthesis and characterisation of functional nanoparticles
