Research interests
Nahuel Arenas is a PhD candidate at the Centre for the Study of Global Ethics, University of Birmingham, where he researches the parallels between the abolition of slavery and climate change. He is the Chief of the Regional Office for the Americas, of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) and before joining the UN he occupied the position of Director of the Humanitarian Department at Oxfam America. He holds a MSc in International Politics by SOAS (University of London), and has pursued studies in Crisis Management (Univ. Complutense Madrid) and Public Policy (FLACSO). He has contributed to the HarvardX Course: Humanitarian Response to Conflict and Disaster and is a frequent invited lecturer / speaker to academic courses and conferences related to his expertise.
