Michael’s research interests include the assessment of orthopaedic and musculoskeletal pain conditions and surgery, and how this may influence or interact with function, disability, prognosis and health outcomes across a range of patient populations and diseases. Michael has experience and expertise in psychophysics (quantitative sensory testing, conditioned pain modulation) methods, mixed methods and evidence synthesis methods. Michael has experience and expertise in working collaboratively with external orthopaedic and musculoskeletal clinical partners developing a programme of research investigating health outcomes.
