Erik is the proud father of his 8-year old daughter and mainly works as a clinician in his own co-owned private specialized physiotherapy practice in The Netherlands. He is currently finishing his PhD on diagnosis and management of patients with cervical radiculopathy at the University of Birmingham, UK. As such, he has published several manuscripts on patients with neck pain with a focus on cervical radiculopathy.
Erik’s clinical as well as his research interests lie in helping patients manage their spinally related pain with a focus on neck pain, radiculopathy, headaches and dizziness
Erik has a BSc in Physiotherapy, an MSc in Manual Therapy as well as an MSc in Sports Physiotherapy.
He has taught both physiotherapy undergraduates as well as post-graduate manual therapy students, with a special interest in clinical reasoning and motor control dysfunction and still teaches CPD courses nationally and internationally.
Before having been a member of the Executive Committee of the International Federation of Orthopaedic Manipulative Physical Therapists (IFOMPT) from 2008-2016, he was the conference committee chair and directio of the IFOMPT2008 world congress in Rotterdam
He is also an OAFA qualified American Football Coach.
