Abstract
The book is based on the analysis of previously unknown medieval Arabic and Ottoman documents related to the initial Ottoman rule over southern Arabia. It reveals that contrary to the widely accepted view in the Western and Turkish scholarship on the suject that Turks held stable positions abd maintained a continuos four-century domination over Yemen, they in fact did not enjoy a stable social support there and their Ottomanisation policy ended in failure.
