Abstract

The changing character of floodplain deposits in the Humberhead Levels and adjacent areas is discussed with reference to palaeo-ecological evidence, principally fossil insects, from Sandtoft, Humberside. An anthropogenic origin for a major change in the late Roman period is discussed and a flow diagram presenting the evidence in its wider context is included. -Authors
