SpatioTemporalities on the Line: Representations – Practices – Dynamics

Sebastian Dorsch (Editor), Jutta Vinzent (Editor)

Research output: Book/ReportBook

Abstract

Lines reflect and influence the spatial and temporal structures of our world view more than we recognise at first, as already put forward by Tim Ingold's monograph Lines. A Brief History (2007). They are not only geometric forms, but also allow insights into the understanding of the world, as shown by the essays in this book. Using case studies from archaeology, anthropology, art, cartography, design, literature, the history of mathematics, philosophy and religious studies, this book forms an interdisciplinary contribution to a cultural history of the line
