Abstract
A zoning technique is applied to reduce the thickness of a fishnet metamaterial lens from 35 mm to 8 mm without causing any deterioration in the performance. The lens operates in the NNZ regime (n = -0.25), has an experimental focal length of 46.5 mm and a depth of focus of 17.8 mm. The surface-relief fishnet metamaterial lens opens the door for integrated systems.
