Abstract

In this paper we demonstrate equivalent circuit models for the optimization of geometrically-induced surface modes of planar structures. A review of classical surface (or spoof surface plasmon) waves on subwavelength slit arrays, hole arrays, mushrooms and complementary split-ring resonators is given from the perspective of the transverse resonance method. Then, planar THz waveguides composed of annular holes is presented with closed form relations based on the transverse resonance approach.
