Abstract

Single and multi-antenna measurements are studied to assess Wireless Body Area Networks (WBAN) in the millimeter wave band. A 2 by 2 multiple input multiple output sounder with 6 GHz bandwidth in the 59.6 – 65.6 GHz ISM band was used in on-body and on-body to off body configurations primarily for health monitoring applications. The paper presents results of Doppler spread, r.m.s delay spread and assesses the gains of diversity combining to reduce the impact of shadowing due to the movement of the user.
