Abstract

The virtually complete document runs of the Collegiate Church of St Omer in Saint-Omer, Northern France, offer an almost unique opportunity to uncover the musical life of a great church in the Low Countries at a time when such churches supplied almost all the most renouned musicians of Europe. Using these primary sources, this book tells the absorbing story of that institution's musical life in the late fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries, tracing the careers of its musicians and their manifold links with the great chapels and courts of Europe.
