Abstract

Large-Eddy Simulations (LES) have been carried out on a 1:25 scale model truck, subjected to headwinds and a 30-degree wind yaw angle at a Reynolds number of 200,000. The Subgrid scales (SGS) have been modelled using a standard Smagorinsky model. Surface pressure shows a good level of agreement when compared to full-scale experimental studies. Time-averaged vortex cores and flow features were examined. Aerodynamic drag and lift coefficients have been calculated and power spectral analysis of the time varying coefficients have been carried out.
