La musique dans l'oeuvre recente de Philippe Beck

Translated title of the contribution: Music in the recent work of Philippe Beck

Research output: Contribution to journalArticle

Abstract

French poet Philippe Beck (1963-) has worked with the composer Gérard Pesson and his poems have inspired the work of others including Maxime McKinley. He also writes about music in reflective and poetic texts. This article considers examples of his poetry and prose in order to examine the extent to which music influences the form of his writing. It argues that the arts are presented as in productive conflict with one another in the recent volume Opéradiques (Flammarion, 2014) and that his Un Journal of 2007 (Flammarion) can be read through the figure of counterpoint.
