Abstract
Christianity's 'life of the world to come,' for example, is qualitatively different to mortal existence, a difference underscored by the unfulfilled promise of the final judgment's 'resurrection of the dead.' [...]the soul's immortality is contingent upon death: it is, as it were, a necessary requirement. [...]the discussion remains existential in nature and does not refer to a more ontological conception of Being.
