Abstract
This technical note presents data on international railway comparisons. It is intended as a general introduction to some of the main themes and problems of international comparisons. The authors provide a selection of time series data for a set of countries and an extensive collection of reference sources on international rail statistics. Interesting general conclusions on first-order comparisons are highlighted. Key economics-based references for those wishing to study the subject in depth are provided at the end.
