Abstract
The influence of heating rate on the initiation of primary recrystallization in a deformed, particle-containing Al-Mg alloy was investigated using a Gleeble thermo-mechanical simulator. Two heating rate ranges were found, separated by a critical heating rate, where an increase in the heating rate leads to an increase in the recrystallization start temperature (T-Start) in the lower range, while it leads to a decrease in T-Start, in the latter range due to the suppression of recovery beyond the critical heating rate.
