Abstract

In this paper the dispersion analysis of 1-D periodically grooved metallic surfaces with wide gaps is presented for the first time. A novel analytical periodic method is demonstrated that consists in the solution of a transverse resonance equation at the level of the gap openings. The method is implemented on a design at 15 GHz and results show a fast leaky wave at the examined frequencies. The broadside radiation patterns of the symmetrically fed infinite size antenna are also predicted.
