Abstract
Hydrogen is considered one of the prime future energy vectors in traffic. Up to now only rudimentary elements of a hydrogen economy exist. The question arises who will be the actors of the establishment of a hydrogen infrastructure and what development path will be taken. Comparisons with natural gas fuels and Biodiesel show some interesting results. This contribution investigates the role of offshore wind energy and biological sources of methane (biogas etc.) in building up a future hydrogen infrastructure. With the renewable energy producers completely new market players take place in the fuels market.
