Abstract

This article uses the example of transnational Twelver Shia networks located in the London borough of Brent, in the north-west of the city, that operate between Britain and the Middle East. Using recent contributions on the relationship between religion and space, this article examines how the agency of theses Twelver Shia networks unfolds at different spatial scales - locally, nationally and transnationally - and also transcends the physical parameters of these spaces by creating a ‘utopian’ space of a Shia religious imaginaire.
