Abstract
For children to enjoy themselves in sport, they need to feel that they’ve got what the sport demands – physically and strategically – and that the sport can be an enjoyable, successful experience for them. Sometimes it doesn’t work out that way. What are the positives? the negatives?
Children’s sports enjoy an impressive popularity in this country. Twenty to thirty million children participate in an organized sport league ranging from baseball to wrestling. As children’s sport is a conglomerate of approximately 50 different individual and team sport activities, the child participant id equally as diverse in age, sex, ethnic/racial background, and skill level. In the U.S., the context of children’s sport is a many-splendored thing, consisting of a rich array of children participating in a wide variety of athletic activities.
