Abstract

In this paper, a planar corrugated antenna (Bull's Eye) for operation at low THz frequencies is proposed. This antenna illuminates via an open-ended waveguide aperture with a very promising matching performance and high gain radiation. A further modification of the typical Bull's Eye antenna is proposed here, which utilizes the combination of unit cells with different depths. This results to an extraordinary enhancement of the gain-bandwidth region, with achieved realized gain of 20.6 dB at 296 GHz and 3-dB bandwidth of 8.78 %. A prototype of this novel antenna has been fabricated via CNC milling.
