Abstract
Mixtures composed of triphenylenes substituted by oligo(ethyleneoxide) chains and a rigid nano-cage host (made from triazine-based panels linked to pyrazine pillars by Pt ions) containing a flat aromatic guest, exhibit lyotropic liquid-crystalline behavior upon the addition of a small amount of water. X-Ray measurements show that the guest has a negligible impact on the liquid-crystalline structure, which may lead to new strategies to design dynamic functional materials.
