I am a senior clinical lecturer in ophthalmology and medical education with the University of Birmingham Institute of Clinical Sciences and consultant ophthalmologst with Sandwell & West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust (Birmingham & Midland Eye Centre) with specialist interest in inflammatory eye disease. I am also affiliated with the University of Birmingham Institue of Inflammation and Ageing.

I am deputy lead for Year 5 of the MBChB curriculum and am involved in delivery of undergraduate ophthalmology teaching to all schools within the Institute of Clinical Sciences. I am also involved in regional postgraduate teaching in ophthalmology both to ophthalmology trainees, and trainees in associated medical subspecialties.


Research interests

My research interests are focussed on clinical aspects of ocular inflammatory disease, particularly in evidence synthesis / systematic reviews of disease management. I have a background in experimental immunology and also facilitate translational / basic science research in ophthalmology conducted within the Institute of Inflammation and Ageing.
