Willingness to take PhD students

PhD projects

Oliver Herber has a research interest in qualitative research including the use of vignettes and qualitative meta-synthesis as well as in electronic momentary assessment using hand-held devices such as PDAs. Oliver shares also an interest in cardiac rehabilitation and chronic diseases such as chronic heart failure and leg ulceration.

Dr Herber’s research interests encompass qualitative research methods in general and qualitative meta-synthesis in particular. He has been successful recently in capturing grant money from the German Research Council (DFG) in order to conduct a systematic review and meta-synthesis of qualitative studies exploring barriers and facilitators to self-care recommendations in heart failure patients. Besides that, he has also an interest in using electronic momentary assessment. In 2011, he was a co-applicant on a CSO (Chief Scientist Office) grant that sought to assess patients’ cardiac related beliefs, motivation and mood over time to predict non-attendance at cardiac rehabilitation.
