Biography

Noor Haziq Saliman graduated with Bachelor of Optometry (Hons.) from the Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia in 2011. Upon graduation, he worked as a research assistant at the department of Optometry and Vision Sciences, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and subsequently enrolled as a postgraduate master student researching the visual performance and head posture of schoolchildren with infantile nystagmus. Alongside that, he also worked as a locum optometrist in private practices. He then took a teaching position as a lecturer at SEGi University, Malaysia before pursuing a PhD at The University of Manchester in 2015. Haziq's PhD investigated the subclinical inflammation of the ocular surface and adnexa in response to different types of contact lens material, modality and care system. His research employed several clinical assessment including in vivo confocal microscopy, impression cytology and tear fluid sampling, and further analysed using immunological approach (flow cytometry and cytometric bead array). Haziq is now a research fellow under the Neuroscience & Ophthalmology group, Institute of Inflammation and Ageing, where his research focuses on investigating the impact of traumatic brain injury (TBI) on the ocular structure and function, longitudinally.
