PhD projects

John Bullinaria has a wide range of research interests across the fields of Computational Intelligence, Operations Research, Cognitive Science, and Artificial Life. Major projects in recent years have involved models of brain damage (connectionist neuropsychology), language processing (reading, spelling, past tense production, lexical decision), adaptive control (particularly oculomotor control), the optimization and evolution of neural information processing architectures (including the emergence of modularity), the formulation of more biologically realistic evolutionary computation algorithms, corpus-derived semantic representations, multi-objective vehicle routing optimization, meme-based models of social learning, and simulations of life history evolution.
