PhD projects

Joanne Sayner’s research interests focus on memory studies, literary history and the politics of remembering. Her particular areas of interest are gendered memories of Nazism and the GDR, and how debates about the past inform contemporary German society. Focusing on questions of autobiography and identity, her research combines literary historical and cultural studies approaches.

Dr Sayner is currently supervising two PhD projects examining female suicide and she is happy to receive doctoral research proposals in all her areas of research.
