Research interests
My research focuses on health and wellbeing across the lifespan. I am currently working on a global health project in the Institute of Applied Health Research examining self care strategies for chronic and stigmatising conditions. I have expertise in mixed-design studies and conduct both advanced quantitative analysis and qualitative research. I also have expertise in critical analysis and evidence synthesis including meta-analysis, systematic reviews and realist reviews.
My previous research experience includes: an EU grant ‘FOCUS’ which explored issues relating to the screening and management of frailty; an academic evaluation of the New Dynamics of Ageing programme; and an exploration of the affective attitudes (emotions) relating to driving. Prior to that I worked for the Health and Safety Executive for ten years as an HM Inspector of Health and Safety.
