Gregory Lip has research interests in atrial fibrillation, hypertension, heart failure, thrombosis and antithrombotic therapy, and ethnic differences in vascular disease. In addition, he has a major interest in the psychophysiology and understanding of the disease process in cardiovascular disease (including atrial fibrillation), as well as physician and patient perceptions of antithrombotic management strategies. Finally, he leads a laboratory-based research group into thrombosis and vascular biology in cardiovascular disease and stroke.

Half of Professor Lip's time is spent as a clinician and he practises the full range of cardiovascular medicine, including outpatient clinics, with large atrial fibrillation and hypertension specialist clinics, and coronary care units. He is interested in supervising doctoral research on atrial fribrillation (epidemiology, pathophyiology, thromboprophylaxis, psychological morbility, etc), hypertension, heart failure and clinical/experimental thromboembolism.
