Dilan Jayaweera's research interests are in planning and operation of power systems. He has particular interests for the following research areas.

Power system security, resilience, and reliability
Risk assessment in power systems
Integration of distributed energy resources into active distribution networks
Planning and operation of renewable energy Micro Grids
Energy security, resilience, and reliability of smart grids
Modelling and simulation of major system disturbances including blackouts
Monte Carlo simulation applications in power systems
Dr Jayaweera is interested in supervising PhDs in the areas of:

Power system risk, resilience, and reliability with renewable power generation and electric vehicles
Planning and operation of smart power grids and micro grids
Static and dynamic security in modern power systems
Asset management in smart power grids
Probabilistic applications in power and smart power systems
