Willingness to take PhD students

PhD projects

David Smith is a keen multidisciplinary collaborator and works with scientists and medics in areas ranging from cancer diagnosis to plastic surgery. His research interests include:

Micro-fluid dynamics of fertility and reproduction, including sperm motility and embryonic nodal cilia
Modelling embryonic development
Muco-ciliary transport in the liquid lining of the lung
Chemical dispersion in cilia-driven flows

Dr Smith currently supervises a PhD student working on computational modelling of sperm motility and is happy to discuss PhD project supervision in mathematical biology and viscous fluid dynamics.
