I am a specialist in plant metabolism, particularly redox regulation and signalling.  My lab seeks to understand the regulation of plant growth and defence under optimal and stress conditions, with the aim of preparing improved crops with high sustainable yields. We are particularly interested in how primary processes (photosynthesis, respiration) and antioxidants such as ascorbate and glutathione generate signals that influence plant growth and defence responses. We test the functions of proteases and other proteins in the control of plant development and stress-induced senescence in crop plants including soybean, pea, maize, barley and wheat.
